A 33-year-old arrested in Siem Reap town may have saved himself a possible stint in jail had he only followed the nation’s loosely enforced helmet laws on Monday.

Police had just pulled the man over for not wearing any head protection when they received a call about a bike stolen from Preah Vihear market.

Lo and behold, the licence plate number matched that of the man they had just fined, who was detained for questioning as the likely thief. KAMPUCHEA THMEY
