Elderly woman injured by hit-and-run driver

An elderly recyclables collector is recovering in hospital after a vicious hit and run incident on Wednesday in Phnom Penh.

Police said the woman was collecting bottles to sell in Chamkarmon district when struck by a speeding car.

Witnesses, who scrambled to the woman’s aid, said the driver appeared to be drunk and immediately fled the scene in his car.

Police are now seeking his arrest, though descriptions from onlookers were hazy.
