Phony monk sorry as police call his bluff

Police arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a monk in Sen Sok district on Tuesday.

The imposter had reportedly donned robes that afternoon to request donations from passers-by.

When police took the 19-year-old to the station for questioning, he insisted he was collecting funds for construction works on a pagoda, but when police telephoned the head monk, he denied having any knowledge of the fraudster, who then promised not to do it again.
