Motodop stabbed in brawl over customers

A MAN who was stabbed and beaten during a brawl over customers between motodop drivers was rushed to hospital yesterday with serious injuries, police said. Bickering between the three drivers, who had been competing for customers in front of a pagoda in the capital’s Daun Penh district, quickly escalated into a full-blown fight, leading one of them to stab the 40-year victim with a knife while another punched him in the face, eyewitnesses said. The two suspects reportedly fled the scene.

Drink driving leaves shop in sorry state

A DRUNK driver crashed his car into a motorbike repair shop in Phnom Penh’s Sen  Sok district during the early hours of Wednesday morning, witnesses said. The car was reportedly totalled after taking a right turn and hurtling into the repair shop. No one was injured, but equipment inside the shop was damaged. The wrecked vehicle has been impounded at the Sen Sok police station.

Head-on bridge crash leaves one man dead

A MAN was killed and three others injured when two speeding motorcycles collided  head-on on the Meanchey bridge, in the capital’s Chamkarmon district, late on Tuesday. A 23-year-old motorcycle repairman died as he was being taken to hospital in an ambulance 15 minutes after the accident. Two women and one man riding the other motorbike escaped with minor injuries and were released from hospital shortly after arriving.

Opportunistic thief robs absent-minded vendor

A WOMAN who allegedly stole 960,000 riel (US$234) from a distracted vendor in Kampong Thom’s Baray district on Wednesday was arrested by police. The 33-year-old victim said the suspect stole the  money when she wasn’t paying attention. But the suspect was almost immediately arrested because the victim was able to provide a clear description of her. About 40,000 riel, $20,000 worth of counterfeit notes and $1,000 in cash was confiscated from the suspect, who has been sent court.

Police storm beauty salon in search of drugs

A 35-YEAR-OLD man caught in possession of 19 packages of crystal methamphetamine and smoking paraphernalia   in Banteay Meanchey province yesterday had been sent to court, police said. After coll-aborating with the provincial prosecutor, police stormed the beauty salon where they suspected the alleged drug dealer was hiding. The man had been detained and   immediately transported       to court, police said.
