Reckless motorcyclist dies going wrong way

A 38-year-old man died im­­mediately after a motorcycle crash on Sunday in Kandal’s Kien Svay district. Witnesses said the man had been driving the wrong way down the road and collided with two men riding another motorcycle. The man suffered fatal head injuries, and the pair he collided with were seriously injured. Police could not suggest any reason for the accident, and they confiscated the two vehicles to investigate. A 27-year-old habitual burglar was re-arrested on Saturday after stealing four walkie-talkies and a mobile phone on Friday night in Kandal’s Takhmao district. The suspect confessed to the crime. Jealous husband axes his ex, nearly to death

A 25-year-old woman was chopped and critically injured by her husband on Monday in Siem Reap. Police said the husband, 35, had been working in Thailand since 2011. When he returned home on Monday, he was told that his wife had a “new husband”. The furious man grabbed an axe, found his wife at a local market and chopped her in her head and shoulder. The woman suffered near-fatal injuries and was hospitalised. Police arrested the husband later the same day. The suspect confessed that he had attacked his wife because she had betrayed him. Thieving addicts fail to score with robbery

Two men rode a motorcycle and snatched a woman’s necklace in Battambang province’s Battambang town. Police said the pair, 25 and 28, tried to escape the scene but their motorcycle broke down. They abandoned the bike and ran away, but police managed to catch them. They confessed to the crime and said they were addicted to drugs and were planning to exchange the jewellery for drugs.
