July 22: Doung San, 31, a radio repairman in Sralauv Chroeung village,

Pogneakrek district, Kampong Cham, was killed at midnight by four kidnappers

after being held captive for five hours. Police said the victim was shot five

times in his body before his wife had time to bring two million riel ransom.

July 23: Moeung Socheat, 28, a motor-taxi driver, was shot dead

at 5:45am with a K-59 handgun by two robbers who took his motorbike. He was held

up when he stopped in Boeung Keng Kang 2 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said the

victim, who came from Takeo, was shot once in his neck and died immediately. The

robbers escaped.

July 23: The body of an unidentified woman was

found floating in a lake in Phoum Thmei precinct, Mita Pheap district,

Sihanoukville. Police said the victim had been raped before being killed.

Authorities are investigating.

July 24: Hay Heng, 33, a fisherman,

was chopped and seriously injured at 10:00pm by his friends while drinking wine

in Mita Pheap district, Sihanoukville. Police said the victim was chopped six

times on his head and body and sent to Chamcar Chek hospital after the incident.

The criminals escaped.

July 26: Em Chhem, 80, a monk, was found

dead early morning at his room in Preuksa Phallaream pagoda located in Phoum

Thmei village, Kandal Stung district, Kandal. The local authorities said the

victim was beaten about the body and his neck suffered massive injuries. The

motivation for the killing is not known.

July 26: An unidentified

girl, 20, was sent to Calmette hospital immediately after she suddenly lost

consciousness at 11:05am in Morokot hotel located in Monorom commune, 7 January,

Phnom Penh. Doctor said the victim had drunk the poison and died later in

hospital. The reason is not known.

July 27: Sok Seng, 27, a

moto-taxi driver, was robbed by three unidentified offenders at 4:45am while he

was stopping to get money from a traveler in Depot 2 precinct, Toul Kok

district. Police said that one robber who had AK was shot dead during an

exchange of gunfire and two others escaped safely but empty handed.

July 27: Asie Domasa, an Australian, was robbed at midnight by

four offenders while sleeping next to his wife at Yoratex factory located in

group 1, Mita Pheap district, Sihanoukville. The robbers escaped with $2,500,

two damleung of necklaces, one pair of earrings, a ring, one damleung of

bracelets and other properties.

July 28: Chanthou, 25, was killed

by robbers who then took a motorbike at 12:00am while she was staying at an

apartment near Canadia Bank in Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, who is a

waitress, was chopped many times in her body and her throat was cut. A boy, 3,

was also chopped to death.

July 28: Chea Srey Neang, 24, and Nou

Em, 25, Foster Beer girls, died immediately in an accident at 8:30pm while they

were crossing Samdech Sothearos Blvd in Chaktomuk commune, Daun Penh district,

and were hit by a tourist car. The driver escaped with police in pursuit.

July 28: Seng Hong, 21, a moto-taxi driver, was robbed at midnight by

two unidentified men who took his motorbike while he was stopped collecting

money from a customer in Boeng Keng Kang 1 precinct, Chamcarmon district. The

robbers escaped safely.

July 28: Uch Vanna, 22, was killed at

8:00pm and his body was dropped near provincial prison of Battambang. Police

said the victim who also had a K-59 handgun was shot once in his head. The

motivation for the killing is not known.

July 29: Chum Sophal, 24,

was killed and his body dumped in Rotaing village, Kian Svay district, Kandal.

Police said the victim who is a moto-taxi driver was chopped six times in his

body by robbers who took his motorbike. Police believe they know who killed the

victim but say he escaped.

July 29: Uy Moeun, 40, a moto-taxi

driver, was beaten and seriously injured at night by two Vietnamese robbers

while he was stopped trying to collect from the offenders in Doeum Chan village,

Mean Chey district, Phnom Penh. Police said the robbers escaped empty-handed.

The victim was sent to hospital.

July 30: Chhin Rachana, 18, a

monk, was stabbed and beaten and seriously injured early in the morning by

another monk in a personal conflict in Saravorn Techo pagoda in Chey Chumnas

commune, Daun Penh district. The victim was sent to hospital after the incident.

The criminal escaped safely.

August 1: An unidentified suspected

robber was chopped to death at 9:30am by local people while he was fighting with

another man in a dispute of over the ownership of a moto-taxi. The incident

happened in Tram Doak village, Pong Teuk commune, Dongkor district, Phnom Penh.

August 1: One person died and two others were seriously wounded

at midnight while riding a motorbike on a circle street in Psah Kandal 1

commune, Daun Penh district and were shot when they refused to obey a police

officer's order to stop. Chhin Chanpor, Commander of Municipal Police, said he

will investigate to find a criminal and bring the person to the court.

August 1: Leng Sophon, 34, a farmer, was shot dead at midnight

while sleeping at his house in Daun Mao village, Komchay Mear district, Prey

Veng. Police said the victim was shot three times in his chest and stomach, and

died immediately. Kong Savan, 31, who is the victim's wife, said there are two

criminals who escaped.

August 1: Two suspected thieves were killed

by local people at 10:30 am while they were staying at home in Koh Som village,

Domnak Chong-euo district, Kep city. Police said the victims Seang, 30, and Bun

Nang, 41, had been accused of stealing cows. Seang was decapitated while Bun

Nang was chopped in his mouth.

August 2: A generator shop owner

Hok Seang Hong, 55, was kidnapped at 8:40pm while he was stopped in his car in

front of his house near New Market (Psah Thmei) in Phnom Penh.

Police said

the victim's family has received phone calls several times from the kidnappers,

who demand $100,000 ransom.
