SON ALLEGEDLY STABS DAD WITH SHARP SCISSORS
A policeman was severely injured after his son allegedly stabbed him with a pair of scissors on Monday, police said. The man’s wife told police that her son was suffering from “a crazy disease”. He constantly picked fights with innocent people, she said, forcing the family to keep him locked up. The mother alleged that her son attacked his father while he was sleeping. Police said they had sent the boy to hospital in order to “cure the disease”. The mother said her son had previously fought with other people, but had never stabbed anyone.

Three women were arrested after they allegedly stole a tourist’s purse and hid it on the grounds of the Royal Palace on Tuesday, police reported. Investigators stated that the three women preyed on a group of tourists visiting the iconic structure. One of them allegedly swiped a tourist’s purse, then passed it to another woman, who hid it in a bathroom. When the tourist realised that she had lost her purse, she alerted the police, who spotted the suspect women. Police have since sent the women to court and returned the purse to the tourist.
THREE MEN ACCUSED OF DRIVE-BY BANDITRY
Three men have been arrested after they allegedly tried to swipe a motorist’s necklace while she was driving down a road in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district Monday. Police said the three suspects pulled up on a motorbike beside the victim and grabbed her necklace. But the victim shouted for help, prompting nearby police officers to track down the suspects. The victim was lucky not to have been severely injured, police said. Officers returned the necklace to the woman and sent the three suspects to court. They said such cases had become alarmingly common in recent years, and warned residents to be on guard while driving.
THIRSTY RESIDENT FOILS BURGLARY IN PROGRESS
Two suspected thieves were caught red-handed Sunday after a resident of Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district woke up in the middle of the night to thwart their burglary attempt, police said. Officers said the two men were rummaging around the home while its occupants slept, looking for valuables such as phones and laptops. However, one of the family members woke up to grab a drink of water and shouted loudly when he spotted the would-be thieves. Police caught one suspect and are looking for the other.
