A security guard in Battambang town proved the hero of the day when he chased down a purse-snatcher fleeing a market on Tuesday.

A vendor had made the mistake of leaving her purse, with $100 in it, on display in her stall. Another woman grabbed it and ran – an exit that sprang the security guard into action.

After a short chase, the thief was detained and police arrived to return $100 – minus a small handling fee – to the overwhelmed vendor. DEUM AMPIL
