Tenacious tourist foils riverside bag snatchers

Two purse snatchers got more than they bargained for on Saturday after a tourist refused to let go of her bag.

A man and his wife, both foreigners, were walking along Phnom Penh’s riverside when the suspects, 24 and 27, drove by on a motorbike and tried to snatch the woman’s bag.

The woman clung fast, however, causing the moto to crash. One suspect attempted to flee by jumping in the river, but police pursued on motorboat. Both suspects were charged on Saturday. Nokorwat
