A bungling Phnom Penh street thief effectively traded in his motorbike for a $500 piece of jewellery on Sunday, when he abandoned his vehicle after ripping a necklace from a woman’s neck in Tuol Kork district.

The man apparently took flight on foot when he encountered a hard-to-navigate crowd and became startled as his victim’s screams brought attention from bystanders.

Police confiscated the bike and are currently hunting the suspect.
