A 22-year-old woman in Kandal province’s Takhmao district was nabbed on Tuesday following a less-than-subtle attempt to steal 1 million riel ($250) from a money-changing shop.

After exchanging some money herself, the perpetrator waited for the shop’s proprietor to become distracted by another customer, before grabbing the cash and scurrying out the door.

Alerted by the woman’s haste, the shopkeeper quickly realised what she had done and yelled for the police, who happened to be nearby. The woman was arrested in a flood of tears. KOH SANTEPHEAP
