Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the annual Global Education and Career Expo organised by IDP Education this Saturday at a leading hotel in Phnom Penh.

IDP, which is an Australian-based international education services organisation, is hosting the event to promote quality education for aspiring Cambodian students and it will be an avenue for them to source for more information about higher education.

“Making the wrong decision is a waste of time and very costly so we encourage students and parents to get as much information as possible when coming to the expo. Our study abroad counsellors will walk the students through options that are suitable to their individual future dreams,” Vantak Chheang, Student Placement Manager at IDP Education (Cambodia), said in press statement issued on Thursday.

The expo will showcase world-class study options from high school to technical and university level. The education expo will be held from 9am to 4pm at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra Hotel and it is open to public free of charge.

Students and parents are expected at the event and they will have the opportunity to gather first-hand information about study options, admission requirements, visa processes and relevant scholarships directly from education institution representatives.

Students will have an opportunity to meet foreign institution counsellors face-to-face.

About 70 institutions from around the globe including Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore and Thailand are expected to take part in the expo.

Students and parents can also attend panel discussions and presentations by experts, successful alumni, scholarship providers and representatives from embassies and civil society on student-related topics aimed at giving insights into skills development, career prospects and international education choices to help students and their parents better plan for their future education journey, said the press statement.

IDP Education has more than 100 offices in over 30 countries. In Cambodia, IDP Study Abroad offices are located within the five campuses of the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Counselling and assistance with study applications are provided free of charge to students by IDP Education.

IDP Education is part-owned by 38 Australian universities.

The education fair this Saturday is expected to attract some 2,000 people.

More Cambodian students are now keen in overseas education.
