Scottish champions Rangers have been hit with a Covid-19 outbreak ahead of their Europa League clash with Alashkert and the Old Firm derby against Celtic.

The Glasgow club confirmed the Covid cases in a statement on Tuesday.

It is not known how many of Steven Gerrard’s side have been affected by the coronavirus.

“Rangers can confirm that during our testing schedule, we have received positive Covid-19 tests,” their statement said.

“Those identified as positive are now in self isolation along with ‘close contacts’.”

Rangers face Alashkert in Armenia on Thursday in the second leg of the play-off after winning the first leg 1-0.

They host in-form title rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
