A festive feast of high scoring fixtures played out during the middle of last week and culminated in the 1-1 draw from the London derby between Chelsea and Spurs.

Man United’s rousing 5-0 rout of Fulham was the most one-sided of affairs and unsurprisingly yielded the top two performances of the PPP/CTN Fantasy League gameweek.

Inveterate Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs not only notched a Premier League goal for an incredible 20th consecutive season but also had his hand in two more to bring home an exemplary 17 fantasy points.

Fellow midfielder Nani was on sparkling form once again and mirrored his colleague’s contribution of a goal and two assists to amass 16 points.

Other players of note include Wigan keeper Ali Al-Habsi, who made eight saves including a penalty and keep a clean sheet to take 13 points. West Brom’s Paul Scharner grabbed a goal and assist for 13 points, a tally also matched by Man City’s Sergio Aguero with his double strike against Stoke.

Gameweek 17 saw yet another success for the Flack household after the husband of week 11 winner Hayley topped the charts. David Flack with his rock star team Macctallica showed why he was holier than thou with a total of 89 points.

A good choice of captain can often mean that nothing else matters in a line-up, but Macclesfield native Dave’s pick of Newcastle’s irrepressible hitman Demba Ba as skipper for 22 points was also complimented nicely by Dream team selections of Nani and Aguero.

Dave, for whom the bell tolls this Christmas will be subsidised if he chooses the US$20 phone card voucher prize over the internet dongle from sponsors Cellcard, beat two other fantasy managers by just a single point.

Gameweek 18 awakes us from our mulled wine-induced slumbers with the traditional Boxing Day matches. Get your transfers done by 6:30pm tonight so you can kick back and enjoy the action with a turkey sandwich in hand.
