Ambassador’s message

Remarks by Ambassador Wang Wentian on the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China

On this auspicious occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia and myself extend most sincere greetings to Chinese compatriots working, studying and living in Cambodia.

I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to all friends from both China and Cambodia who have long supported and contributed to the friendship between our two countries.

Over the past 73 years since the founding of the People’s Republic China, the people of China have rallied behind the Communist Party of China (CPC) in advancing the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics through thick and thin, achieving remarkable historic transformation.

Especially since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core of leadership gains insight into international and domestic situation, and based on the accurate understanding of the new stage of development, firmly implements the new development philosophy to create a new development dynamic.

Under such visionary leadership, the Chinese economy is on the track of high-quality development and heading for a brighter future, laying a more solid foundation for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The upcoming 20th National Congress of the CPC will set the goals, tasks and major policies for China’s development in the next five years and beyond.

The Chinese people will continue to muster strength from Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and strive to build a great modern socialist country in all respects and realize the Chinese dream of great national rejuvenation.

Throughout the 73 years, China has always shouldered its responsibility as a major country, contributing to world peace and global development, as well as upholding international order and providing public goods.

China proposed celebrated public goods such as the Belt and Road Initiative, Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative, contributing China’s wisdom to sustainable development and addressing common challenges for world peace, stability and development.

China also plays an active role in promoting global cooperation on climate change, firmly adhering to the belief that good environment is invaluable.

China is committed to multilateralism, upholds the international system with the United Nations at its core and the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

China aligns itself with the common values of humanity and cooperate with other countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

China and Cambodia are close friends and good neighbors.

The bond of friendship between our two countries has withstood the test of major global changes and become exemplary for international relations.

The friendship has been greatly strengthened in our joint efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, with China becoming Cambodia’s true strategic support for vaccine supply worthy of the name.

Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway will be put into operation soon; the construction of Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is in full swing; Cambodian agricultural products such as fish, corn and longan have been approved to export to China; bilateral cooperation in law enforcement and security deepens; major collaborative projects between the militaries are progressing smoothly; Cambodian students in China have successfully returned school to resume their studies.

The two countries continue to support each other on our respective core interests and major concerns.

China-Cambodia relations have grown from strength to strength.

In the coming year, we will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia.

I am convinced that by following the strategic guidance of our leaders and pooling efforts of our peoples, China-Cambodia Community with a Shared Future is bound to reach ever more new heights.

Our bilateral relations will, without a doubt, usher in the next 65 years of vigorous development.

On this auspicious occasion, may I wish all dear friends and your families great happiness and good health!

May the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Cambodia enjoy peace and prosperity!

May China-Cambodia traditional friendship keep going from strength to strength!
